Why Midlife Women Have NO TIME To Waste
It’s Mindset Monday!
What are you putting off? Is it a big thing? Or do you chronically put off small tasks until they become an issue? Do you live with a sense of urgency or complacency?
Today’s Mindset Monday message is inspired by Ryan Holiday (author of The Obstacle is the Way and many other books based on Stoicism). Ryan reminds us that procrastination isn’t laziness.
Procrastination is a form of entitlement.
How about that for calling yourself out, huh? You (and I) both presume, and arrogantly so, that tomorrow will come. It’s natural, it’s normal and it’s also full of crap. Twenty-two years ago, my mom went into the hospital unexpectedly on a Sunday.
Two Sundays later she was dead.
The stoics agreed upon this truth:
You could leave this life today.
You just don’t know.
Delaying taking action until “things settle down” (HINT: THEY NEVER DO)
or until the “timing is right” (HINT: IT RARELY IS)
or you have “less going on” (HINT: YOU NEVER WILL)
is a fool’s errand, and I say this with love.
Live now. Act now. Do the thing now. No matter your age, you do NOT have time to waste.
A fulfilling life demands CHOOSING what is important and acting on it NOW because tomorrow may not come.
And speaking of the arrogance to plan your future…
I’m hosting a midlife women’s retreat October 22-25, 2026.
